Thank god for that! We communicate more with our bodies rather than verbal communication. We’re completely transmitting information, we’re constantly ‘exposing’ ourselves. And, thank god for that? These are more subconscious signs that we show. More, in particular, I’m talking about romantic attraction and the way that a man shows it. How a male human shows romantic attraction through body language. Guys show attraction in different ways, one of them is body language. The signs that he wants you bad, we’ll read them together. We’ll expose him together. insert evil laughter, that’s mildly funny

Considering the ‘normal’ & misunderstandings

How does he behave with others?Keep in mind that some of the signs could just be ‘normal’ to him. As in, it could just be the way he presents himself, and the way he treats others. Like, eye contact, or smiling. Or some of them could just be habits, like touching his face, or raising his eyebrows. Cultural background can also affect the way that someone presents themselves. The way he’s formed as a person, the way he’s ‘educated’ and taught to treat others. Touching your arm or even eye contact could be a sign of politeness and friendliness to someone. The environment you’re in can affect both of you & your non-verbal communication.Dim lights, or a certain temperature of the place you’re in can affect the way you stand/sit and/or communicate with one another through body language. Like pupil dilation in a dark place, or pupil constriction in a very light place. Pay attention to the consistency of the actions. He could just be having a good day, and light up the room with joy when he sees you, touches you, and smiles and all that. Being in a good mood and a good state of mind (for however long that is) can affect a lot how you treat others. He could be trying to sell you something at that moment, so he’ll do his best to be polite and give those positive body language signals. Pay attention to the consistency, and to how often the behavior occurs. So, what are male body language signs of attraction?

1. He doesn’t obstruct his body when he’s around you. He’s open, literally.

His sitting or standing is more relaxed, and in a way, more welcoming. We tend to put barriers when we’re not feeling safe, or interested in a person. Logically, it makes total sense. Our body unconsciously will find ways to ‘block’ the person in order to avoid physical contact when we don’t like them. According to Sonamics it is a sign of defense and protection. When he finds you attractive, he’ll show welcoming signs. You can genuinely tell if he’s crossing his arms because he’s feeling cold or if he’s uninterested. His body will tell you, he’s open. He’s showing you his sensitive parts (yes, including his reproductive ‘prizes’), he’s not defensive. Misconception: He crosses his arms, he’s not interested. No, it’s a sign of self-comfort/soothing. It doesn’t mean he’s blocking you.Watch the video where Joe Navarro explains this in detail.

2. He’s like a bulb of joy that lights up everytime he sees you

In other (less complicated)words: he smiles. Smiling is a sign of pleasure, a sign of joy and/or happiness. You’re around, he starts smiling; Or even better, he smiles at you; the mingling is on baby!! It’s a psychological sign he likes you. Though, check for the smile to be genuine. It feels a little odd to point this out, but some people tend to give fake smiles for various reasons. Especially if, they want to trick you into buying something. In order not to buy crap from them (take it as you wish: figuratively, or practically to some extent), look if their smile is genuine. According to Westside Toastmasters – “The Allure of Happy Expressions” – a false smile is half, it doesn’t include the eyes as much as a genuine smile does. So, you want to look for his eyes to be smiling too. Not just his mouth moving. Misconception: He smiles with his teeth and everything, otherwise it’s not genuine.Realize that he’s a human. He could be self-conscious/insecure about his teeth and the way they affect his appearance, so when it comes to smiling, no matter how genuine, he can try to hide them as much as he can.

3. His feet are facing you

According to Carol Kindsey Goman for Forbes, when the toes of a person are pointed at you, they most likely are interested in you (the person, not the feet). This is also confirmed by PsychMechanics in an article they published on Body Language: Truth of the pointing foot. This is one of the powerful signs that he’s attracted to you. He’s not even aware of it, he just does it naturally. Even if he secretly likes you, and doesn’t want you to know… We’re so exposing him right now! They are some signs that he might love you secretly and you are not aware of. Misconception: If his feet are pointing at the door, there’s no other way to it: he’s not interested in you. This can be true only if it happens often when you’re in contact with him. On the other hand, such body language doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not interested, he could have something to do or a place to go but isn’t able to find a way to tell you that.Read: Signs he’s not interested in a relationship with you.

4. He’s basically a cowboy now – His hands are on his hips

Apparently putting hands on hips is a thousand of years old gesture which men use to appear bigger, take more place, and be noticed. So he’s wanting to look larger to attract a potential partner, which is you hope, to get attention. Also, to show other men “You can’t mess with her, I’m by her side!”. Jeez, he might not even know it himself. It’s him doing this instinctively because he’s attracted to you. His genes are betraying him, and we… we surely are taking advantage of it, aren’t we?

5. His head tilts when he listens to you

You know the look. It is a sign of curiosity, you know, we’ve seen dogs do it…According to the Sonamics, “The Bow Back” can be doing this to show confidence and reassurance, or interest in what you’re saying, or in you. When he listens, when he pays attention to what you say, it is a pretty good sign of interest. Or at least that he likes you. Misconception: This is solely a sign of interest in you.Well, no, no it’s not just that. It could entirely be a friendly thing, and it doesn’t mean that there’s no other way to see it but interest or attraction.

6. He touches his face

According to Training Express, we often touch our faces when we want to attract others, or relax. So we can say it is a way of self-soothing, but also an unconscious attempt to try and catch attention, and/or appear more attractive to the person looking at us. “I’m attractive, of course, I’m attractive. Monica, look at me, I’m attractive.” on repeat, as he’s touching his face. What a wonderful world! Misconception: If a person touches their nose, they’re lying – the pinocchio effect. For some reason, we all believed this information when it got served to us. Turns out it isn’t as true as we thought it was. This, at least according to a special agent for the FBI for 25 years, who made 13,000 interviews in his working career there.

7. Blush, blush, blush

We’ve watched enough cartoons to know this one is true, we don’t need any backup from science, but since that’s the nature of this article, I have to give you the side of science. You know, just in case we missed those scenes from Bambi or Snow White. He’s overwhelmed by emotions, whether it is an embarrassment. He knows he’s being observed by someone, in this case, you, hence he feels that heat of the blood in his face. Enough to let you know he’s affected by your presence.

8. He raises his eyebrows

Yes, raising eyebrows is a sign of attraction towards you, you blew his mind away sort of. He’s surprised and/or he’s asking for attention. I’d understand the skepticism towards this one, but science backs it up. Here: Eyebrow Body Language. Misconception: Raising eyebrows only means someone’s surprised/attracted.Not exactly. You know, people can raise their eyebrows when they’re lying, or when they’re feeling discomfort. So, let’s not get super hyped up about this one.

9. He makes eye contact

He looks at you, to the point you either blush, or are about to blush. And he can’t help it. When someone finds something/someone beautiful, they’ll find it difficult to distract themselves from it. Backed up by science, eye contact is indeed a sign of interest and attraction. He’s going to look at you. He’ll give you those eyes. Those windows to his soul, while he’s trying to sneak peak into yours.

10. His pupils dilate

Even babies’ pupils dilate when they see something interesting, or beautiful, or anything that they’re so curious about, let alone the guy who’s so attracted to you. One of the reasons that pupils dilate is because of the ‘love hormones’ (oxytocin & dopamine). He’s so happy and excited to see you, his pupils need to dilate to see you better. Seriously, this is too easy. And the good part? He can’t control it. Misconception: Dilated pupils only indicate attraction.Pupils dilate when you’re scared when your eyes need to let more light in. Giving it a logical approach, the pupils will dilate in dark places, where the light is low.In a place where the light is low, his pupils will dilate whether he’s attracted to you or not.

11. His gaze goes lower than your eyes while you’re talking

He’ll make this sort of triangle starting from your eyes (left or right, doesn’t matter), nose, lips, chin, chest, and up again. Until he’s so dizzy and falls, falls in love with you. Yeah, that’s called bullsh*t. You’ll notice this, he’ll do it if he’s attracted to you, if he likes you, or if he’s into you. It’s one of those signs he’s attracted to you sexually too. He’s looking for boobies too, you know. General misconception: He’s looking at your lips, he wants to kiss you, hence he likes you.Science doesn’t really accept that version that for some reason is widely spread on the internet as a sign that he’s attracted. What’s really going on is that he’s most, most probably trying to ‘lip read’.Watch the video where Joe Navarro explains it in detail.

12. “Aaaaa” – His mouth opens a little

His eyes, and jaw relaxed, his mouth a little open, he’s surprised to see you, and boy he likes what he sees. It’s either that version or the one where his jaw is touching the floor while his eyes are pumping hearts out, and alarms are ringing all over the place. It’s a sign he finds you attractive. Trust me, you’ll know when you see it. The moment you two notice one another, his mouth will open a little, and he’ll have that sort of lost look on his face. It’s too obvious even though he doesn’t do it consciously.

13. He leans forward – Space invader

According to Sonamics we lean towards what we like. He’ll do it naturally because the more you two spend time together, the more comfortable you’ll be with one another, and the more he’ll feel the need to be closer to you. Though, pay attention to the place you’re in. If it is too loud, he could be leaning forward to hear you better. But then again, he could use it as an excuse to sit closer to you. At this point it becomes confusing, but don’t get too overwhelmed by it. Pay attention when you’re in a place where there’s no need to lean in closer in order to hear what the other is saying. He leans forward, he likes you.

14. He likes to move it-move it

A high degree of movement often indicates unsettlement – meaning he’s nervous around you(or that he’s afraid of rejection). He likes you, he doesn’t want you to reject him, he wants to be accepted by you, and as a result he gets nervous. Like Navarro explained, he does this self-soothing, or self-comforting moves, by moving his legs fastly, or tapping with his fingers on the table, touching his neck, beard, face, swirling his drink around, cracking his knuckles.

15. He’ll find ways to touch you

When he’s attracted to you he’ll voluntarily or involuntarily feel the need, and will attempt to touch you. Touch in general is a form of showing and receiving attraction. Is one of our ways to connect. He finds spots next to you, and he touches you. Though not in the creepy way, let’s get this straight. It’s a light touch in the arm, in the hand, or picking that invisible thing in your hair. You know, harmless little things that give you both those damn butterflies.

16. He fixes himself up

He’ll subconsciously make adjustments to his appearance the moment he notices you’re in the room. Whether it is that string of hair that’s been annoying him the entire day, or that tie that was good the last time he checked but now that you’re here he has to make sure one more time, or that thing on his neck, he’ll fix it, he HAS to! Most guys I talked to about this, have admitted to have caught themselves doing this in the moment of seeing a woman they’re attracted to. Also, personal experience: I’m good-looking if I do say so myself, and I noticed that some men around me tend to do this the moment I lay eyes on them. You get the idea.

17. “Mirror mirror on the wall…”

It’s you. It’s you! Him making the same gestures as you is also known as “Isopraxis”, “The chameleon effect”, “Echoing”, “Synchrony”, “Harmony”. Psychology Today explains that once two people have spent enough time together, they get comfortable to the point where even their shoulders align, and their bodies are turned towards each other. You nod, he nods, you make a little hand gesture, he makes a similar or identical one, perhaps it’s been going on for a while but you haven’t paid attention to it. “Stop copying me!!”

18. The hugs are a little longer

Let’s say you two hug each other goodbye, and he lingers on for a little longer. Well, the good news? Long hugs are considered a desire for romance. If he didn’t hug others for that long, and you know it’s not a thing he does with everyone, then he’s most probably attracted to you, and you can consider this as a desire for romance from his side. How kind and thoughtful of him!

19. He exposes his vulnerable parts of his body

A sort of openness, as I mentioned above in the article. If we get back to our fellow ancient humans, exposing our necks, wrists, palms of the hands could’ve just been dangerous, hence they’re considered as vulnerable parts. With you, he’s not scared, he’s open. He’ll expose his hand palms, his neck, or his wrists. Mingling? On!

20. He laughs hard, your jokes suck

Your jokes are fine, but sometimes they suck the life out of people, and he still laughs. What is wrong with him?! Well, he’s interested in you, he’s attracted to you. If you want science proof for it, read: An Evolutionary Perspective on Humor. It’s all cool when someone laughs at your cool  jokes, but him laughing at the lame joke that accidentally slips and there’s no coming back, means there’s definitely something up with him. My theory: He’s either got a bad taste in humor, or he’s head to toes attracted to you.

21. The more comfortable he gets the more he touches

He will touch things, face, knee, forehead, beard, table, chair, WHATEVER’S TOUCHABLE. In the video I suggested above, Navarro commented this while he was analyzing the people on their first date. Both were touching things, their knees, their face, beard, chair, etc. and mirroring each other at the same time. If you have a certain distance that you cannot cross between one another, he’ll touch other things to compensate for the fact that he’s not touching you. He desires to touch you, he can’t, so he’ll touch the closest things instead.

Conclusion

All you have to do is pay attention to the signs and his behavior, and you’ll understand exactly what I’ve been trying to tell you during the whole article: HE FINDS YOU ATTRACTIVE. It really isn’t that difficult to read the signs someone gives off with their body. Simply, pay attention and observe. You’ve got this! Sincerely, Callisto Does He Like Me Quiz?
